Window facing display: Not just for retail stores but also the public transit

The RisingStar window facing display was originally developed for shop retail signage, with the purpose of helping retail stores showcase their products through video and images, allowing customers to see the products in a much more direct way. To achieve this, the window facing display is mounted behind the shop display window.

 

This setup places the LCD display in a unique environment: while it is still indoors, the display is exposed to sunlight that heats it through the window. The interference from sunlight and the glass can make it difficult to read the content displayed.

 

To address these challenges, the standards for window facing displays differ from both traditional outdoor and indoor LCD displays. The window facing display requires a high-temperature, wide-temperature LCD panel to withstand the heat from sunlight, and it also needs high brightness to remain visible under direct sunlight—similar to the standards for outdoor displays.

 

However, the use of glass as a wall is not limited to retail shops. Transparent glass walls are also commonly used in bus and train stations to allow passengers inside the building to see the arrival and departure of trains and buses.

 

Imagine a passenger waiting outside a building with a glass wall. Using a window facing display might be an economical choice for station managers. After all, indoor displays are generally less expensive since waterproofing is not necessary indoors, and indoor displays are easier to maintain than outdoor ones.
